Welcome back to SPEEDY EATS! 🏃🏻♀️⚡️🍴 This is part 2 of the series combining my hobbies of running and trying new foods! My second neighborhood is Back Bay so I checked out @delucasmarket! Not only is Deluca's serving up delicious made-to-order sandwiches, offering fresh groceries, and curated wines, but they are women-run and family owned! 💞 I got the Italian Sub which comes loaded up with capicola, salami, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion, and hot peppers. I think the sub roll was also dressed up with a little olive oil and balsamic which helped moisten the sandwich and give it some acidity. They definitely nailed the ratios of meat, cheese, and vegetables. I was really happy with how much deli meat it came with, the provolone was pretty mild which was nice, and the other toppings elevated the flavor profile! I loved the mix of spicy and sweet. My only note would be that a lot of the components are pretty juicy alongside the drizzle of oil it made the roll a little soggy (even though they put the cheese on the outside of the roll kinda like a wall — maybe to prevent said sogginess). Overall, a solid sandwich that is the perfect lunch to keep your energy up for shopping on Newbury. I definitely would be curious to try other sandwiches especially as it's so conveniently located! 5k worthy no doubt 👏 🏃🏻♀️
